Bizen Pottery is a ceramic ware made in Okayama Prefecture. It is widely believed that Bizen Pottery was first made in the Heian Period (794AD), when people made bowls and roof tiles for daily use. In the Azuchi-Momoyama period (1500AD), Bizen ware is said to have been loved by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who practically ruled the country at that time, and Sen no Rikyu, who mastered the art of tea ceremony.
