Product Story

General Product Information

This scarf is carefully dyed one by one using the traditional tie-dyeing technique.
It is a powerful design inspired by the image of the sun.

Tie-dyeing is a general term for a dyeing technique in which a portion of the fabric is tied with thread, sewn or boarded up to prevent dye from entering the area and to dye a pattern.

*Please be careful where you store it, as it is a natural material, and prolonged exposure to light may cause it to fade or discolor.
*Please handle with care as the fabric may tear if rubbed strongly.*Please note that there may be needle holes, scars, small holes, and thread pulls due to the natural material used in the tie-dyeing process.
*The color finish and pattern may vary each time due to hand processing.

How to take care of it
*When caring for the item by yourself, please hand-wash in lukewarm water and use a light neutral detergent.
*If the item is heavily soiled, please consult a professional cleaner.*Please iron at a low temperature.

 Product History

When did these crafts start to craft?:1300 years ago / 700AD / Nara period in Japan

Tsujigahana, a dyeing technique that maximizes the original beauty of tie-dye

Although there are too few materials and existing kosode available, it is difficult to say exactly what “Tsujigahana” is, but it is defined as a combination of tie-dyeing, drawing, surifoil, and embroidery. Tie-dyeing, which is the basis of tsujigahana, is a traditional technique that has been used in Japan since the Nara period (710-794).
Its heyday was from the Momoyama to the early Edo period (1603-1868), but with the development of yuzen dyeing, tsujigahana lost its significance and naturally went into extinction.
In recent years, it has been called “phantom dyeing".
