Product Story

General Product Information

Mahakala, (known as Daikokuten in Japan), who presides over destruction and rebirth in Indian mythology, is coated in gold leaf.
In Japan, he is known as the god of wealth and is extremely auspicious. It has a very large impact as an ornament, and its presence will stand out when placed in a room. It is a one-of-a-kind piece, so it is a special piece that will never be found in the world!

 Product History

When did these crafts start to craft?:200 years ago / 1800AD / Edo period in Japan

With the arrival of Buddhism in the 6th century, Buddhist altars began to be produced in Japan. As time progressed, investigations by Buddhists to outlaw Christianity led to the installation of butsudan (small shrine) in homes. This increased demand for butsudan led to further expansion of production of kyo-butsudan. Even today, the technology used to make butsudan is still being used to develop meticulous products.
