When did these crafts start to craft?：1400 years ago / 600AD / Asuka period in Japan

Folding fans, or "sensu," have a deep-rooted history in Japan, introduced from China in the 6th century during the Asuka period (592-710). Initially exclusive to the aristocracy, they evolved during the Heian period (794-1185) into symbols of status and art, adorned with intricate paintings.
By the Edo period (1603-1868), mass production made fans accessible to all social classes, with diverse designs ranging from practical to highly artistic. Fans gained symbolic significance in rituals, dances, and ceremonies. Despite a decline in everyday use during the Meiji era (1868-1912), traditional folding fans persist as cultural artifacts, revered for their historical importance and artistic craftsmanship in contemporary Japan.

All of our fans are hand-made that inheriting the tradition.
We are particular about the raw materials such as domestically produced bamboo and Japanese paper, and all designs are hand-painted.
We use our own environmentally friendly iron to create highly original products. We also continue to make new attempts, such as producing fans for left-handed people and challenging the world record in the number of fan bones.

Income for Craftsman: Craftsman get only less than 10% of selling price?

As written above, craftsman have not controlled last phase of sales channel that resulting in selling price is set by third-party without craftsman’s recognition. There are some cases that only less than 10% of selling price is given to craftsman. We promise with our customer / craftsman that we offer the fair trade with craftsmen in our contract!
