General Product Information
This vase is made using the traditional wax casting method.
Due to the characteristics of the wax casting method, it is impossible to make exactly the same vase, making it a special one-of-a-kind vase.
It is a single-flower vase that is very festive when placed on a table or in an entryway.
The glass container inside the vase is decorated with a unique and beautiful design using a decorative technique used in Nishijin textiles.
Product History
When did these crafts start to craft?:1400 years ago / 600AD / Asuka period in Japan
It has been developed since ancient times as a casting technique utilizing the characteristics of wax, and has been widely used, including the production of small gilt bronze Buddhas in the Asuka and Nara periods.
A wax material made by kneading beeswax and pine resin is pasted on a medium-sized clay mold to make a prototype of the casting. This mold is then covered with clay and baked, and the wax material is removed to form a hardened mold. While the mold is still cool, molten metal is poured into the mold through the hot water outlet, and after waiting for cooling, the mold is removed to form a casting.
This is the general flow of the casting method using wax molds. The advantages of the wax casting method over other techniques are that wax molds are easy to work with and suitable for making complex and exquisite castings.
In addition, the fluent and soft texture of the prototype is transferred to the skin of the casting through the mold, resulting in a beautiful casting.
