General Product Information

A large one-mile bag that is easy to use in everyday life. It is lined and has two pockets on the inside for easy access to a wallet, cell phone, etc.
The leather handles attached to the bag make it even more comfortable to use.
The fabrics used are made from silk sample cloths and test cloths of Kyoyuzen silk, which are usually produced when dyeing kimonos.
You can enjoy the combination of various patterns and beautiful silk fabrics, where craftsmanship comes to life in this bag.

When did these crafts start to craft?：1200 years ago / 800AD / Heian period in Japan

The general term for dyeing techniques practiced in Kyoto. Since the establishment of the Oribeshi (Weaving Office) in 794 (the 13th year of the Enryaku era) at the time of the capital's relocation to Heian, Kyoto has continuously played a central role in Japan's dyeing and weaving industry, in terms of technique, production, and trends. This dominance reflects the superiority of Kyoto's dyeing techniques over those of other cities and regions. The term first appeared in historical documents, such as the edicts of Takeda Shingen, and became commonly used during the Edo period. Various dyeing techniques, including Yūzen-zome (Yūzen dyeing), Shibori-zome (tie-dyeing), Chūgata-zome, and Komon-zome were developed, but one common feature was the specialization of tasks. Shikkai-ya (dyeing coordinators) played a central role in managing the division of labor.

Income for Craftsman: Craftsman get only less than 10% of selling price?

As written above, craftsman have not controlled last phase of sales channel that resulting in selling price is set by third-party without craftsman’s recognition. There are some cases that only less than 10% of selling price is given to craftsman. We promise with our customer / craftsman that we offer the fair trade with craftsmen in our contract!
