Product Story

General Product Information

This bangle is made of Sterling Silver.
The inside has 262 characters of the Hannya Sutra, and the outside has a checkered pattern hand-hammered by a craftsman.

Meaning of Hannya Sutra (Inside)
The Hannya Sutra is "An important teaching for attaining enlightenment through the ability to see the truth and essence”. It is a short sutra, but it summarizes the idea of "emptiness", which refers to "no substance" and the realization that "nothing in this world is everlasting".
Things are constantly changing, but their core essence remains the same. The "emptiness" in the Hannya Sutra conveys the importance of not being caught up in change and realizing the essence.

Meaning of Ichimatu pattern (Outside)
The ichimatsu pattern has the meaning of prosperity because the pattern continues without interruption. Because of its meaning of "prosperity," the checkered pattern is favored by many people as a pattern of good omen, such as prosperity of descendants and expansion of business.

Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine in Japan was once one of the world's two largest silver mines, and Japan was one of the world's largest silver producers. Around the 17th century, craftsmen called silversmiths were highly valued by feudal lords, and they were also active in making not only silverware but also portable shrines for festivals and hairpins for women, and the general public patronized a wide variety of items.

How marvellous.

The process of creating squares by hammering is still a mystery to me.
The bangle is absolutely marvellous. A birth of the great skill of the master Kenichiro sensei. It arrived here in Germany a few days ago and I am very happy with it.
