An exquisitely graceful women's sandal showcasing a delicate ivory textile aesthetic, accentuated by 100% pure silk thong straps woven in a traditional "Matsubishi" (pine diamond) motif by textile brand "OLN". The footbed features a natural linen-textured PVC surface that combines refined visual elegance with exceptional resilience and easy care.
The Calen Blosso EVA platform is remarkably lightweight, delivers superior cushioning, and offers excellent slip resistance. Preserving the artisanal heritage built since the founding of "Hishiya," the conventional zori structure [cork core + leather sole] has been innovatively evolved into [EVA midsole + Vibram rubber outsole]. This modification provides sneaker-level practicality engineered for effortless walking on modern asphalt and concrete surfaces.
Perfect for museum visits in kimono, weekend getaways, exhibitions, concerts, theater performances, shopping, or relaxed cafe lunches. A versatile modern footwear designed to pair seamlessly with casual kimono styles like tsumugi, komon, and yukata, as well as elegant contemporary attire.

Our sandals are intentionally tailored with a slightly tight strap fitting at first, designed to gradually conform and mold to the unique contours of your feet as you wear them. CALEN BLOSSO
Since its founding in 1926, Hishiya has been a master footwear maker, seamlessly balancing handcrafted beauty with everyday practicality. By infusing centuries-old techniques with modern functionality, their creations transcend traditional kimono footwear—offering refined, versatile pieces that enrich lifestyle aesthetics for craft lovers around the globe.
About 1,200 years ago / 800s / Heian Period (794–1185)
The history of zori is long and storied, dating back to the Heian period when they were already part of daily life as a common footwear. In those early times, they were simply woven from materials like straw, serving a purely practical purpose: protecting the feet and making walking easier.
It was during the Edo period that zori evolved into something more refined, incorporating exceptional comfort and fashion-forward designs. As a vibrant merchant culture bloomed—unmatched anywhere else in the world—and expressions like Kabuki and street fashion flourished, diverse trends in zori emerged.
Craftsmen began carefully selecting materials like bamboo sheath and fine silk, tailoring delicate hanao (straps), and reinforcing structural durability. Through these innovations, zori transcended their role as mere utilitarian tools, elevating into beautiful works of craft that embody the timeless Japanese aesthetic of iki (refined sophistication).
